Privacy Policy

Overview

Wordson is an English vocabulary app published by AppSkor. You can use Wordson without creating an AppSkor account or giving AppSkor your name, phone number, contacts, photos, or precise location.

Wordson uses third-party services for subscriptions, analytics, feature configuration, and crash reporting. It also connects to AppSkor's word service to download vocabulary and, when you choose to use it, pronunciation audio. These services may automatically process technical and usage information as described below. The information processed can depend on your device, region, settings, and the features you use.

Information handled by Wordson

Vocabulary and settings stored on your device

Downloaded words, your Favorites collection, the selected vocabulary level and collection, and similar app preferences are stored locally on your device. Wordson also stores widget colors and the words chosen for its Home Screen widget in a shared local container so the app and widget can work together. AppSkor does not receive your Favorites collection, widget preferences, or downloaded word history. The selected vocabulary level is sent with a vocabulary request as described below. Removing the App generally removes its locally stored data, subject to how Apple manages device backups.

Device identifier and word requests

Wordson creates a random installation identifier and stores it on your device. When the App requests vocabulary or feature configuration, the relevant service receives this identifier and usual network request information, such as IP address, device and app details, the requested vocabulary level, and request timing. When you play a pronunciation file, the audio host receives the usual information supplied with a network request, such as IP address and request timing. AppSkor uses this information to provide the requested content, operate the service, and protect it from misuse.

Usage and feature data

Wordson uses PostHog for product analytics and feature configuration. Information may include a randomly generated installation identifier, app launches, session duration, selected vocabulary level, Favorites activity, share or rating actions, app version, operating system, device type, language, network information, and an approximate region inferred from an IP address. This information is used to understand feature use, configure features, and improve Wordson. It is not intended to directly identify you by name.

Crash and performance data

Wordson uses Bugsnag, a SmartBear service, to diagnose crashes and stability problems. Diagnostic reports may include a Bugsnag-generated device identifier, crash logs, stack traces, app state, session information, app version, operating system and device details, memory and performance information, timezone, and network information such as an IP address.

Purchases and subscriptions

Wordson uses RevenueCat to provide subscription and purchase functionality. RevenueCat may process an app user identifier, technical device information, app use information, and transaction information such as an Apple receipt or purchase status to determine whether a purchase is active and to restore purchases. Apple processes payment through the App Store. AppSkor does not receive your Apple Account password or payment card number.

Feedback you send

If you use Wordson's feedback form, AppSkor receives the email address, message, and installation identifier that you choose to submit. We use this information to respond, provide support, protect the App, and meet legal obligations. Please do not include passwords, payment data, government identifiers, or other sensitive information in feedback.

How information is used

AppSkor and its service providers use information to:

• operate, maintain, and provide Wordson and its vocabulary, audio, widget, and purchase features;
• save preferences and selected words on your device;
• confirm and restore purchases;
• understand feature usage and improve the App;
• detect, investigate, and fix crashes, errors, abuse, and security issues;
• respond to feedback and support requests; and
• comply with applicable law and enforce legal rights.

Legal bases

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing is based on one or more of the following: your consent, performance of a service you request, compliance with legal obligations, and AppSkor's legitimate interests in operating, securing, diagnosing, and improving Wordson. Where consent is the basis, you may withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Service providers and disclosures

Information may be disclosed to the following providers only for the functions described in this policy, or as otherwise required by law:

• Apple, for App Store distribution and in-app purchases. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat, for subscription status, purchases, and restoration. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
• PostHog, for product analytics and feature configuration. See PostHog's Privacy Policy.
• Bugsnag by SmartBear, for crash reporting and stability monitoring. See SmartBear's Privacy Notice.

Providers may act as processors for AppSkor or as independent businesses under their own terms. They may use subprocessors and process information in countries other than yours. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards are used by AppSkor or the relevant provider.

AppSkor may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, protect users or the public, investigate abuse, or protect AppSkor's rights and services. If the App or its business is transferred, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law.

Retention

Local Wordson data remains on your device until it is replaced, reset, or removed with the App, subject to device backups. AppSkor retains server, analytics, feature, diagnostic, purchase, and support information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to meet legal requirements, resolve disputes, and protect the App. Retention periods can vary by data type and provider. Providers may retain information according to their own policies and AppSkor's account settings. Aggregated or de-identified information may be kept longer where permitted by law.

Your privacy rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or an objection to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You may also have a right to appeal a decision or complain to your local data protection authority. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions and identity verification.

To make a request, email privacy@appskor.com and identify Wordson in your message. Because Wordson does not require an AppSkor account and much of the data uses pseudonymous identifiers, AppSkor may need limited technical information to locate a record and may be unable to connect some data to you.

Children's privacy

Wordson is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children under 13 or the minimum age required by local law. AppSkor does not knowingly ask children to provide personal contact information. If you believe a child has provided personal information to AppSkor, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

Security

AppSkor uses reasonable administrative and technical measures intended to protect information. No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Wordson, its service providers, or legal requirements change. The "last updated" date above will show when revisions were made. Material changes will be communicated in the App, on this page, or through another appropriate method when required by law.
